In the midst of a resurgent season, Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer has added another endorsement to his growing NIL portfolio. The Washington State transfer quarterback announced Thursday a new partnership with Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers.
The fast food restaurant has become a recognizable player in the NIL landscape, striking deals with high-profile college athletes across multiple sports. Among its previous partners are former LSU stars Jayden Daniels, Livvy Dunne and Angel Reese, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, Georgia’s Stetson Bennett and Miami basketball influencers Hanna and Haley Cavinder.
Mateer has been impressive early with strong showings in wins over Michigan and Auburn before breaking a bone in his hand during the latter contest. After missing one game and struggling in a loss to Texas, he bounced back with an efficient outing in last week’s 26-7 win over South Carolina.
Entering Saturday’s matchup against No. 8 Ole Miss, Mateer has thrown for 1,567 yards and seven touchdowns, while rushing for 209 yards and five more scores. No. 13 Oklahoma needs to finish the season strong for a possible Playoff bid.
While Mateer’s early-season Heisman momentum slowed after the injury, his marketability remain valuable for the Sooners.
