A franchise icon of the Oklahoma City Thunder appears to be working toward a potential return to the NBA.
On X (formerly Twitter), former Thunder big man Serge Ibaka posted a picture of himself working out in a gym, captioning it with a hint at a comeback while mentioning the league’s social media account

— Serge Ibaka (@sergeibaka) October 30, 2025Ibaka’s previous NBA run was in 2023 as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks. He is coming off a two-year leg in Europe, representing Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Ibaka established himself as one of the league’s most terrifying shot blockers, who eventually developed his game as a modern stretch big man. But now, at age 36, he’ll definitely have plenty of challenges in convincing NBA teams that he deserves another shot.
A 14-year NBA veteran with a career averages of 12.0 points, 7.1 boards and 1.9 blocks across 919 games, Ibaka is a two-time blocks champion and a member of the All-Defensive First Team thrice. He notably won his first title as a member of the Toronto Raptors in 2019.
For being a well-known member of OKC’s previous era alongside Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden, Thunder fans are definitely rooting for Ibaka in his goal of making it back to the Association.
