In the middle of their first game of the 2025-26 NHL season, the Edmonton Oilers had some news.
Their social media team posted that they've signed Jack Roslovic to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.
Roslovic has been the top free agent remaining for a couple months now, and he finally has a home.
He just tied his career-high with 22 goals in 2024-25 for the Carolina Panthers, adding 17 assists in the process.
“He’s the best available player remaining," NHL insider Elliotte Friedman said earlier this offseason on his podcast. "And, obviously, he hasn’t found anything he 100 percent likes. But there are definitely a few teams poking around there. I’ve heard five or six teams. So, he needs to get to something he feels comfortable with."

Clearly, this was where Roslovic felt best, and with the season starting, he probably decided it was time to pick a team.
In his career, Roslovic has already played for Winnipeg, Columbus, the Rangers and the Hurricanes.
He played collegiately at Miami (Ohio) and is from Columbus, Ohio.

It was a bit surprising that Roslovic lasted this long. He won't be up to speed for at least a few days and potentially longer, depending on how well he was staying in shape.
But that's irrelevant at this point. This is the stage Roslovic chose to sign, and he decided to join the back-to-back runner-up Oilers.
If Roslovic can push them over the hump, he'll be an incredible late signing.
