Connor McDavid's regular season has concluded, and it was historic in so many ways.

That includes a crazy stat that features the Edmonton Oilers superstar joining 1980-81 Wayne Gretzky as the only two players in the last 100 years of the NHL to accomplish this feat.

The key accomplishment: McDavid scored a point in every one of his team's wins en route to the playoffs.

That's 41 wins, all with a McDavid point in them.

Gretzky's 1980-81 season was the only other time that has happened in a century, according to John Buccigross.

And according to Buccigross, the Oilers went 0-12-2 this season in the 14 games McDavid didn't score a point.

Yeah, turns out it's pretty important for the best player in hockey to score points for his team, or things don't go quite as well.

McDavid finished the regular season playing all 82 games. He scored 48 goals and dished out 90 assists for 138 points.

He concluded action with four assists on Thursday night in a 6-1 win over the Vancouver Canucks. That ensured the Oilers would play the Anaheim Ducks in the first round of the playoffs and avoid the Colorado Avalanche until later on.

McDavid's 138 points mark the second most in a season in his career, behind just 2022-23 (153 points - 64 goals, 89 assists).

His 90 assists are the second most he had in a season, too, behind just his 100 assists in 2023-24.

McDavid remains clearly in his prime and is writing his name frequently among the game's all-time greats, of which he clearly is one, too.

Through 794 career games, McDavid has 409 goals and 811 assists for 1,220 points.

Next up, he hopes he can lead the Oilers on a playoff run after two consecutive seasons of losing late in the Stanley Cup Finals.
