Connor McDavid just set an all-time Olympics men's hockey record, because of course he did.
The Edmonton Oilers superstar is acknowledged as the best hockey player on the planet, and he's proving that for Team Canada.
Through two games at these 2026 Winter Olympics, McDavid has six points.
No one has ever done that through two games at an NHL-populated Olympics until now, according to The Athletic's Chris Johnston.

Two players had previously opened the tourney with five points in two games. Both came in 2006.
Slovakian legend Marian Hossa notched five points in two games to start those '06 games.
So too did Finnish great Teemu Selanne.
Now, McDavid has surged past both.
He'll have a chance for more points in the next game, as Canada will take on an overmatched France team.
The thing about McDavid, though, is that he makes everyone look overmatched. It's like he's a different speed, strength and skill than everyone else on the ice.

He does that night in and night out for the Oilers. And it's not like it's new for Canada by any means.
It is new at the Olympics, though. McDavid was drafted in 2015, a year after NHL players were last at the Olympics. He couldn't go in 2018 or 2022.
Now getting his chance, McDavid isn't missing the opportunity to shine.
