Quarterback Julian Sayin and No. 1 Ohio State have put together stellar offensive performances throughout the 2025 season, and that continued today against Penn State.
In the Buckeyes' 38-14 win, the Ohio State offense produced 480 yards and five touchdowns. Most of that came through the air, with Sayin finishing completing 20-of-23 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns.
Sayin is emerging as a Heisman candidate, currently boasting the best completion percentage in America, and both of his receivers are making the case for awards too. Jeremiah Smith was widely considered the best player in America going into this season, and he is having another elite year; on the other side is Carnell Tate, who has emerged as one of the top wide receivers in the country.
Here's what Sayin, Smith and Tate did for the defending champion Buckeyes on Saturday afternoon.

Julian Sayin stats vs. Penn State
Last time out, Sayin only had five incompletions to go along with 330+ yards and four touchdowns against Wisconsin. His stat line was pretty similar today.

Sayin has seven straight games with at least two passing touchdowns, going back to the season opener against Texas.

With another big game today, Smith passed 2,000 career receiving yards only eight games into his sophomore year.

Carnell Tate stats vs. Penn State
Tate burst onto the scene and has become one of the top wide receivers in the nation. This afternoon, he had another 100-yard performance.

—In 11 games in 2024, Tate had 583 receiving yards.
—Through 7 and change in 2025, he's got 712 receiving yards.

The Buckeyes offense was firing on all cylinders on Saturday, starting off with a Smith touchdown.

As Ohio State was pulling away, the offense once again drove into the red zone, where Smith made one of the best catches of the 2025 season for his second touchdown of the day.
