Ohio State has a national title to defend.
Whether or not the Buckeyes do that successfully could come down to quarterback Julian Sayin.
Sayin is one of the key questions facing OSU, writes ESPN's Bill Connelly.
"Julian Sayin was the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback (and No. 9 overall prospect) in the 2024 recruiting class, moving on from Alabama to Ohio State after Nick Saban's retirement," Connelly writes. "The 6-foot-1 and 203-pound redshirt freshman isn't the biggest dude in the world, but he has high-level arm talent and mobility. He could be dynamite right out of the gate. But if he isn't?"
That's sort of an open-ended question to end Connelly's thought there.
It could be a suggestion of two things. If Sayin isn't good enough out of the gate, maybe Ohio State goes to a different QB.
Or, if Sayin isn't good enough out of the gate, maybe it's a hugely disappointing Ohio State title defense season.
Either way, there's no time for the kid to waste. It's his time to take control in Columbus, and the Buckeyes need him to hit the ground running.
