An Ohio woman charged over a wild kindergarten graduation ceremony brawl has claimed she was singled out – despite video purporting to show her yanking another parent’s hair.
Jessica Anderson, 28, was charged with assault after allegedly grabbing the hair of a 26-year-old woman during the out-of-control melee which unfolded near some chairs inside the Queen of Apostles School hall in Toledo last Thursday, WTOL reported.
Anderson was the only person charged over the free-for-all brawl, but she emphatically told WTVG “I wasn’t the aggressor.”
She also claimed the viral video didn’t portray a true representation of what happened inside the hall.
“I removed her from the pile, and then her arm fell into a chair,” she said. “Then we were surrounded by people and she was hitting me. I didn’t know what was happening, so I started swinging back.”
Chaos erupted inside the hall after a seating dispute escalated.
Anderson, who was wearing pink, allegedly snagged the hair of fellow parent Craig Mays’ ex-partner before their scuffle continued.
But moments before, Anderson allegedly hurled expletives at some parents who tried to take some of the seats she was accused of hogging.

Mays told WTVG he tried to calm Anderson down, but could only get a few words out before being ambushed.
“Her whole family in the first two rows just stands up, five guys, five girls just all stand up, and as I’m arguing with Jessica, I literally don’t remember anything,” he said.
“I just know I was sucker punched. Once I was taken to the ground, it was probably 4 or 5 other guys on top of me trampling me, punching me, kicking me in the head.”
Then, “she [Anderson] grabbed “my kid’s mom by her hair, pulled her away from me stop punching her face then maybe five or six other girls just came and trampled her and was just stomping her kicking her in the face,” Mays said.
The woman was later hospitalized and required stitches, according to an affidavit obtained by WTOL 11.
Anderson was arrested and charged with felonious assault – before being released after her arraignment Friday.
Anderson was put on house arrest and told to have no contact with Mays’ ex-partner.
She’s due to appear in court on June 10. It’s not known when the graduation ceremony will take place.
There were no students inside the hall when the brawl unfolded.
