Offset claims "Haunted By Fame" was a mixtape to get out of his record deal after it did not chart on the Billboard 200

Rapper Offset recently claimed that he released his new project, Haunted By Fame, as a mixtape to get out of his current record deal after it failed to chart on the Billboard 200. For the uninitiated, Offset is currently signed to Motown, which Universal Music Group owns.

The Migos rapper surprised fans by dropping the mixtape with minimal fanfare on Halloween, two months after releasing his third studio album, Kiari, in August. The project, which featured NBA YoungBoy, Lil Dump, and No Cap, sold under 8,000 units in its opening week, marking a steep decline from the 29K units sold in Kiari's opening week.

The 11-track project reportedly did not chart on the Billboard 200. Following this, Offset claimed that he released the project to get out of his record deal via a comment on Instagram, writing:

"Mixtape to get out of my deal lol."

Offset seemingly dissed Cardi B in the track No Sweat from Haunted By Fame, allegedly referencing her relationship to NFL star Stefon Diggs and their pregnancy. For the uninitiated, Cardi B revealed that she was expecting her first child with Diggs in September 2025. Cardi and Offset are parents to three children, Kulture, Wave, and Blossom.

"How the f**k you leave Jordan for Rodman? (Huh?)/ You a fool if you think that I'm hurt (Hurt)/ You ain't happy, I know how it work (Woo)/ How you married and still givin' birth? (Hey)/ Get some help, b***h, you goin' berserk (Hey)," Offset rapped in No Sweat.

Offset admitted to "stepping out" during his marriage to Cardi B

In July 2024, Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset, and the couple has been locked in a contentious divorce battle since then, often throwing out harsh accusations at each other.

During his appearance on Keke Palmer's Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast in October 2025, the Migos rapper admitted to cheating on Cardi B during their seven-year-long marriage.

"I was definitely not perfect. I made a lot of mistakes. I did a lot of wrong, and it’s always on the front screen, so it was hard to move on from it. I should've respected her way more, you know what I mean? I made bad decisions as a man, like stepping out... That’s why when she left, I had to take that on the chin. I was being selfish, you know what I mean? And I can say that as a man. I'm a grown man," he said.

However, the rapper added that both he and Cardi made their fair share of mistakes in their marriage. Meanwhile, Cardi B also spoke about her marriage with the Migos rapper when she appeared on Jay Shetty's On Purpose podcast, saying that she felt the "love dying," and that she was "very lonely because [she] chose to be lonely."

According to People Magazine, she also suggested that her third pregnancy made it difficult for her to file for divorce, as she kept wondering how it would be raising her new baby without her estranged husband. Cardi also said that the cycle of thoughts left her "sad," "depressed," and "lost," but she was able to overcome her fears.

"It took months for the heart to say, 'You're done.' Instead of my mouth and my brain. My heart had to be like, 'You're done.' Because you could say it and you could take actions but even if you take actions, if you're not done you're not done," she added.

In other news, a security guard filed an assault lawsuit against Offset, as reported by an exclusive TMZ article published on November 1, 2025. According to the lawsuit, security guard Jim Sanchez claimed that the alleged assault occurred at the MedMen LAX dispensary in March 2025, where the rapper and his friends visited at the time.

The lawsuit stated that when Sanchez allegedly asked the rapper for proof of identification, he "became hostile, verbally confrontational, and physically attacked Plaintiff by striking him in the face." The guard is reportedly suing the Migos rapper for "assault, battery and intentional affliction of emotional distress."
