City snow plow drivers slammed into at least five parked cars after the big snow storm recently — and then left the scene, according to police sources and car owners.
The offending plowers reads like a rap sheet:
A woman who lives at Netherland Avenue and West 236th Street in The Bronx told cops that a person operating an NYC Sanitation Truck struck her vehicle and drove off Jan 26.
The snow plows didn’t stop after striking the cars, sources said. Obtained by NY PostAnother woman reported that a city snow plow struck her ride at Brookside Street and 38th Avenue in Little Neck, Queens, just after midnight that Monday.
A third person reported that a plow hit his rear bumper and kept going at 77th Avenue and 226th Street in Bayside, Queens, at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday the next day. All three told cops they have video.
Rodica Chiacu, 63, found her car had been damaged while parked at 236th Street between Netherland Avenue and Johnson Avenue in Riverside, Bronx, as she and her husband tried to clear off the snow on Jan. 26. That’s when she found the 2022 Range Rover had been hit.
She was able to get video from a nearby security camera that showed a city Sanitation Department truck had hit it while making a right turn and then took off even as nearby building employees attempted to stop the driver.
“How can you do that?” Chiacu said. “You work for the city. I have a good car. I’m very upset.”
Another car owner of a 2017 Nissan Rogue, who asked to remain anonymous, sent video of his car being sideswiped by a city plow at the northeast corner of 50th Ave. and 63rd Street in Elmhurst, Queens, around 2 p.m. Jan. 26.
The damage from the hit-and-run plow was significant. Obtained by NY Post“I did not witness it myself but my neighbor did,” the 45-year-old Queens resident said. “It was parked on the corner. When the snow plow truck was making a right it made two narrow of a turn. It scraped the left rear end of my vehicle.
“It tore through the whole bumper and the tires as well.”
The owner, who doesn’t have collision coverage, said he needs a new bumper and tires, but takes some personal responsibility for not properly parking the vehicle.
“I feel stupid,” he said. “I knew I shouldn’t be parking on the right hand side. I had no other options.”
And Mosharaf Hussain’s parked 2010 Lexus sedan on 56th Street in Maspeth, Queens, didn’t stand a chance when a plow hit it around 1 a.m. on Jan. 26.
“The city Sanitation truck hit my car,” the 63-year-old said, adding that his car was parked on the corner.
Video shows the plow rocking his car as it takes off part of the bumper.
“He backed up, then he went again and that’s when he hit my car,” he said. “I’ve never had a problem like this before.”
