New York City Jewish leaders want the deranged man who stabbed two people on the Upper West Side yesterday prosecuted for a hate crime — and demanded Mayor Zohran Mamdani “stop fanning the flames of hatred and division.”
Raul Morales allegedly yelled “Allahu Akbar” as he attacked two men — one Asian and one wearing a yarmulke — in separate attacks near Central Park Thursday afternoon, police and sources told The Post.
UJA-Federation of New York CEO Eric Goldstein at a press conference Friday made a blistering demand of the mayor.
“Mayor Mamdani, stop fanning the flames of hatred and division. The consequences are not abstract,” Goldstein said, ABC7 reported.
“They are playing out on our streets. But make no mistake, we are not going anywhere.”
Mark Treyger, Jewish Community Relations Council CEO, said he expects the district attorney’s office “to fully prosecute this to the fullest extent of the law, whether this attack is ultimately prosecuted as a hate crime.”
