Father Time eventually catches up to every professional athlete, and DeAndre Jordan is no different.
Jordan isn't the same player he was at the peak of the Los Angeles Clippers' "Lob City" era. He has averaged over 15-plus minutes played and five-plus points scored per game just once in the past four seasons, and he averaged a career-low 3.7 points per game last year with the Denver Nuggets.
But it appears that lack of production won't stop him from putting on a yellow-and-blue jersey this upcoming season.
On Wednesday, Jordan posted to his Instagram account a video that featured him sitting at home and engaging in activities to keep him busy during the offseason.
"This is DeAndre Jordan, a retired NBA veteran," a narrator says at the beginning of the video.
But before the narrator continued (spoiler alert: they eventually do), Jordan interrupted them to clear the air on whether he plans to play in 2025-26.
"No, I'm still playing," Jordan said. "I'm still playing."
The caption Jordan wrote for the video — "firing my narrator for this." — also hinted at his decision.
Jordan will be entering his age-37 season this fall, his 18th as an NBA player. Along with the Clippers and Nuggets, he has previously suited up for the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.
The Nuggets are looking to build upon a 2024-25 campaign during which they finished fourth in the Western Conference with a 52-30 record but were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs. Jordan's role will likely be limited to serving as a short-stint spark plug off the bench and veteran presence in the locker room, but he will still be looking to add a second championship ring to his trophy case.
