Notre Dame's Jeremiyah Love can impact NFL Draft rankings with 40-yard dash Combine decision

Jeremiyah Love is the consensus No. 1 running back in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Notre Dame superstar is hoping to move himself as close to the top of overall draft boards as he can with a strong performance this week at the NFL Draft Combine in Indianapolis.

Love isn't going to hold back, either. He's planning to be a full participant at the event.

"Jeremiyah Love, I am told, expected to participate in drills," NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said on Monday. "He is expected to run the 40 (yard dash)."

Love is ranked No. 2 on the NFL.com big board.

Given his status as the top RB in the draft, Love could've chosen to hold back at the Combine, particularly in the 40-yard dash.

Instead, he clearly is confident in what he's capable of and wants to take to the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium with a chance to impress.

Running back has been a devalued position in recent years, but Love is the rare exception who will likely be a top-10 pick despite playing a spot that is declining in value.

His best chances of sticking that high in the draft as a whole are to absolutely dominate in Indy. If he drops an incredible 40-yard dash time, his stock will only rise. It'll remove any doubts that might exist about selecting an RB that high in the draft.

Love will have a great shot at NFL success no matter where he goes, and he's not going to be lacking for interested teams. Still, he's decided to put himself out there for all to see at the Combine, which is a cool move.
