Notre Dame Fighting Irish football QB CJ Carr faces 2 brutal conflicts right away

11 hours ago 1

Welcome to the spotlight, CJ Carr.

Notre Dame's new starting quarterback won't get much time for an adjustment period.

The Fighting Irish may play their two hardest games right out of the gate, writes ESPN's Bill Connelly.

In Week 1, it's a trip to Miami to take on Carson Beck and the Hurricanes. In Week 2, Texas A&M visits South Bend.

Carr appears to hold the QB job over Kenny Minchey, for now.

"He has decent size and a good arm; he isn't the third-down bowling ball that Riley Leonard proved to be, but he could offset that with steadier passing," Connelly writes. "And, say it with me now, we won't know he's ready for the job until he proves it."

Many national title contenders have quarterback question marks.

Carr just fits the mold for the 2025 college football season.

Notre Dame will be hoping he can get up to speed quicker than most, because he won't have any time to settle in before playing the big boys.
