North Macedonia and Latvia take a break from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Thursday when they lock horns in a friendly at Tose Proeski Arena. Blagoja Milevski’s men head into the midweek tie on a run of five consecutive victories over the visitors and will be looking to extend this dominant streak.

North Macedonia failed to climb top of Group J in the World Cup qualifiers last time out as they could only salvage a 1-1 draw against Kazakhstan in Skopje.

With that result, Milevski’s side are one of 12 sides yet to suffer defeat in the qualifiers, picking up three wins and four draws from their seven games to sit second in Group J with 13 points, one point behind first-placed Belgium.

While North Macedonia are unbeaten in their last 14 competitive matches (8W 6D), they head into Thursday’s game on a run of four straight friendly defeats, stretching back to a 1-1 draw against Moldova in March 2024.

In contrast, it has been a truly forgettable World Cup qualifying campaign for Latvia, who sit fourth in Group K with five points from seven games, six points off the playoff places.

Paolo Nicolato’s men suffered a 5-0 hammering at the hands of England in their last outing on October 14, a result which saw their winless run stretch to seven matches in all competitions (4L 2D).

Latvia’s last win came back in March, when they edged out Andorra 1-0 in the World Cup qualifiers thanks to a 58th-minute strike from Dario Sits.
