No. 1 SPIRE Academy, No. 3 Brewster Academy bounce back from Friday losses with key wins on Saturday

The No. 1 SPIRE Academy National [Geneva, OH] and No. 3 Brewster Academy National [Wolfeboro, NH] Bobcats both bounced back from losses against Top 25 opponents on Friday with wins on Saturday against unranked foes.

For Brewster Academy, it was another close call with the Bobcats surviving a 66-63 scrap at the LuHi Invitational against the host Long Island Lutheran [Brookville, NY] Crusaders. Three of the last six games for Brewster Academy have ended in single-basket margins, and while the Bobcats have won all of those games, they've all come against unranked opponents. One of those six games also resulted in a 62-51 loss on Friday to the No. 11 Wasatch Academy [Mt. Pleasant, UT] Tigers.

SPIRE Academy, meanwhile, returned to action following their surprisingly lopsided 66-52 loss to the No. 14 Montverde [FL] Academy Eagles on Friday. They cruised in a 64-45 win over The St. James Performance Academy [Springfield, VA] Strivers.

The only surprise on Saturday involving teams currently ranked in The Sporting News High School Boys Basketball Top 25 was the Northview [Grand Rapids, MI] Wildcats' 63-46 romp past the previously undefeated No. 21 East Lansing [MI] Trojans. That will knock the Trojans from the Top 25 when the latest rankings are released here on Tuesday.
