NL East contender revealed as top rival to Dodgers in Freddy Peralta trade sweepstakes

The Los Angeles Dodgers have yet to stop making upgrades to their dynasty-level roster, after acquiring Kyle Tucker, and now targeting All-Star ace Freddy Peralta through trade. However, they might finally have some competition that would finally stop them from doing as they please.

According to Fansided’s Christopher Kline, the New York Mets are the team with enough MLB-ready assets that could challenge the Dodgers for the rights to Peralta.

“The New York Mets are the team best equipped, in terms of MLB-ready pitching and overall prospect depth, to really challenge the Dodgers in a bidding war. Trading Peralta to the Mets is not exactly ideal from Milwaukee's standpoint — it's still improving a direct NL competitor — but it does not block the path to a World Series quite like trading him to L.A., even if the Dodgers can put the best offer together on paper,” Kline wrote.

This past season, Peralta posted a 17-6 record, a 2.70 ERA, 204 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.075 over 176 innings pitched. He would be the instant ace for New York, or finish off creating probably the best rotation ever assembled by the Dodgers.

He’s also projected to receive a five-year, $152 million deal in 2027. The question is, which team is more likely to overpay in assets for him, and then also give him the projected deal? The Dodgers could, but honestly, the Mets are more likely.

Unlike the Dodgers, they truly NEED Peralta. They have no ace to lead their rotation, and getting one at this point will be done by any means necessary.

So, if the Dodgers truly want to create THE unbeatable team, they need to solidify a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers ASAP, or else the Mets will come knocking.
