FOX Sports talking head Nick Wright has just made quite the bold prediction about the AFC West.
Wright was a guest on "The Mina Kimes Show featuring Lenny" recently and said he believes there will be three playoff teams from the division and the Raiders will be one of them.
So, who misses out from the four AFC West squads? Wright, who is a Kansas City Chiefs fan, thinks it'll be the Denver Broncos.
"How about this? I think the AFC West is going to have three playoff teams again and the Broncos are not going to be one of them," Wright said.
As Wright points out, the AFC West had three playoff teams in 2024, with the Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers and Broncos all making it.
Entering 2025, the Raiders are considered the favorite to finish in last place again, although there is reason to be optimistic that Las Vegas will at least be better.
The Raiders brought in upgrades at quarterback in Geno Smith and at head coach in Pete Carroll after struggling mightily with Gardner Minshew, Aidan O'Connell and Antonio Pierce in 2024.
The Broncos and Chargers were both upstart teams last season, as nobody expected them to have the success they did. As a result, both teams are better positioned for success this coming season, so Las Vegas finishing higher than either one would amount to a surprise.
As for the Chiefs, they are widely expected to take the division once again, although the gap between them and the rest of the division has shrunk.
Regardless, Kansas City is a lock for the postseason, whether they get there via the division crown or a wild-card spot.
