The New York Jets organization received tough news this morning when it was announced that longtime center Nick Mangold had passed away at the age of 41.
Mangold, the Jets' 29th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, played 11 storied years with the franchise and was a two-time All-Pro and seven-time Pro Bowler.
He was also teammates with current Jets kicker Nick Folk from 2010-2016, and Folk had his former teammate on his mind after New York's 39-38 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals this afternoon.
Nick Folk talks Nick Mangold through tears after Jets win
After the win, Folk talked with reporters, including The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt, about what it meant to him after hearing the unfortunate news this morning.
"Nick Folk was teammates with Nick Mangold so this was an emotional day for him," wrote Rosenblatt on X.
"Through tears, he said: 'At the end, he was there with us.'"
New York, who was 0-7 coming into today's game, picked up their first win of the season.
It's hard not to see what this victory means to the franchise and this team, especially on a day when they lost someone so important to Jets alumni.
Head coach Aaron Glenn also took the time in his post-game press conference to pay his respects and shout out an all-time Jets great.
"I hate I didn't start with this," said Glenn.
"He was the heart and soul of this team... prayers go out to him and his family,"
