Trade rumors around the Calgary Flames continue to grow this season. Many fans expected Rasmus Andersson or Nazem Kadri to be the main names discussed. Despite the noise around Kadri and Andersson, winger Blake Coleman is drawing the most early interest. His contract and reliable play make him attractive to contenders.

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic wrote that Coleman is getting the most attention. Teams have contacted Flames GM Craig Conroy to ask about him.

"Interestingly, for all the speculation around Andersson and Kadri, ... the player who’s received the most attention from other teams is Blake Coleman," LeBrun wrote. "Teams are ... letting Flames GM Craig Conroy know that if he entertains moving Coleman, get in touch... In no way is Calgary shopping Coleman. But Conroy can’t control teams reaching out."

The attention makes sense based on Coleman’s experience and contract. He is signed through 2026-27 with a $4.9 million salary, on a 6-year, $29,400,000 contract. He is known for strong two-way play and has won two Stanley Cups with Tampa Bay. So, many contending teams value his leadership and playoff play.

Coleman has eight points in 19 games this season, including seven goals and one assist so far. He also holds a plus 2 rating on a struggling team. Coleman has 298 points in 643 career games. He remains one of Calgary’s most reliable forwards every night and holds value as an offensive addition for any team.

"But given where the Flames' season seems to be heading, Conroy probably has no choice but to listen...," LeBrun wrote. "He has a modified no-trade with only a small number of teams he can be dealt to, so if things get to that stage closer to March 6, he will have a say in things."

Calgary Flames' season will influence Kadri and Andersson's future

Nazem Kadri is also involved in trade conversations and is signed through 2028-29 at $7 million per season. His contract now includes a 13-team no-trade list. Calgary will only consider moving him if they fall further in the standings.

Rasmus Andersson is another key name in trade talk. He is in the final year of his contract and also has a six-team no-trade list. Many analysts see him as Calgary’s top trade chip if they rebuild.

Calgary must now decide whether to keep their veteran forwards or trade them. The Flames may wait to see how the season develops until March's trade deadline. Their direction will guide all trade decisions.
