NFL Week 2 betting recap, trends, line movement: Joe Burrow injury impact, Daniel Jones’ Colts surging

10 hours ago 3

Week 2 is a thing of the past.

Teams are beginning to show their true colors, but there’s still plenty of room for mystery with 16 weeks left to go in the NFL season

Here’s a look at what last weekend’s impact was from a gambling perspective.

Chargers control the AFC West

The Chiefs have won their division in nine straight seasons, but that streak is looking dicey through two weeks.

The Chargers, who upset the Chiefs in Brazil during Week 1, improved to 2-0 after their win over the Raiders on Monday night, and are now a +105 favorite (FanDuel Sportsbook) to win the AFC West.

Kansas City fell to 0-2 and is down to +230 to make it 10 straight division titles.

It’s not getting any easier for the Chiefs, too, with games against the Bills, Ravens, and Lions coming over the next several weeks.

Brutal Burrow injury

NFL bettors took their first major blow with Burrow’s turf toe injury.

With the star quarterback sidelined for at least three months, the Bengals dropped from +2000 to +6600 to win the Super Bowl, +1100 to +3000 to win the AFC, and +275 to +650 to win the AFC North.

Burrow, who had the third-best odds to win the NFL MVP award at BetMGM Sportsbook (+750), is now off the board.

Before the injury, Burrow had received the most bets (15.5 percent) and money wagered (22.6 percent) at BetMGM to win the award.

Packers surging

The Packers’ Super Bowl odds are on the move — again.

After massive jumps following the Micah Parsons trade and an impressive Week 1 win over the Lions, the Packers’ Lombardi Trophy chances just keep improving.

The Packers went from +900 to +650 following another convincing win, this time over fellow NFC contender Washington Commanders on Thursday night.

Since Week 1, Green Bay has received 29 percent of the money at BetMGM to win the Super Bowl.

Betting on the NFL?

Danny Dimes, Colts’ shocking start

It looks like Daniel Jones might play the Colts into playoff contention.

Indianapolis has been one of the most surprising teams of the first two weeks, beating the Dolphins and Broncos with a combined 62 points.

BetMGM has moved its playoff odds from +170 preseason to -135, while its Super Bowl odds have shifted from 100/1 to 66/1.

Jones’ play has been perhaps the most shocking thing going on in the NFL right now.

The former Giants quarterback has thrown for 588 yards with two touchdowns and a 111.1 quarterback rating through the Colts’ first two contests.
