The Jacksonville Jaguars could have one of the more fun trade deadlines of any team in the NFL this season. With a strong record and a path to the AFC's No. 1 seed, this Jaguars team could make a push for a true star-level player this season.

But the Jaguars might not only make a splash as buyers. They could also make a huge move as sellers. Brian Thomas Jr. is a name floating around the NFL right now as an intriguing trade target for wide receiver-needy teams.

While Jacksonville has rebuffed trade rumors, The Athletic's Jonathan Jones is reporting that the NFL sees this situation differently. The NFL "seems certain" that the Jaguars will trade Thomas this season, as the third-year WR could be gone by Tuesday.

NFL 'seems certain' that the Jaguars will trade Brian Thomas Jr.

"The Jaguars have held firm in keeping wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. We'll see if they keep that posture after Thursday," Jones writes. "The rest of the league seems certain the Jags will part with Thomas."

What this report from Jones indicates is that those around the NFL believe the Jaguars turning down any notion of a Thomas trade is all posturing, and that the third-year WR will be on the move this season.

It's such an obvious move for the Jaguars that it would be a bit of a surprise to see him not traded away. Sure, the Jaguars are contenders, and having extra WR help couldn't hurt. But Thomas has fallen to fourth on the depth chart at best.

With Parker Washington breaking out, Jakobi Meyers being a stable presence in the WR room, and Josh Cameron showing some promise, along with the occasional role for Travis Hunter, Thomas has fallen way down the depth chart.

A Thomas trade would make a lot of sense, especially if it could be of use in upgrading a different area of the roster. Maybe they use him to acquire Moro Ojomo or someone like Jalen Carter from the Philadelphia Eagles.

Or maybe they splurge on a good defensive tackle and use a Thomas trade to recoup some of the draft compensation they lost in that trade.

The NFL believes the Jaguars are going to trade Thomas, and with all of the rumors going around, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him go at all.

Tuesday's NFL trade deadline will be very interesting for the Jaguars, as they might not only be big buyers; they could have one of the more appealing trade targets at a premier position like wide receiver available.
