The New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks both feature quarterbacks who have never played in the Super Bowl.
Drake Maye and Sam Darnold will start for the first time on the biggest stage of their lives in the game in Santa Clara a week from Sunday.
That means that, as far as career Super Bowl records go, they're all pretty much safe from these passers for now.
The NFL social media account on X decided to have some fun with that this week, though, making this goofy post:
Sam Darnold & Drake Maye can make history by throwing for 3,040 yards apiece in Super Bowl LX pic.twitter.com/ZlkmN1Op5w
— NFL (@NFL) January 31, 2026MORE: Drake Maye loved Cam Newton, but the former Panthers QB hates on him anyway
Yes, that really is from the official NFL account.
Obviously, it's meant as a joke, and from one perspective, it is pretty funny. And it probably got the engagement it was seeking.
Also, it allows us to appreciate the absurdity of Tom Brady's career just a little bit more. No one has thrown for even half the yardage in Super Bowl history that Brady has.
MORE: No one is talking about Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey's free agency
Maye, in a Patriots jersey himself, would love to start making inroads toward chasing down what seems like an unbreakable record.
Darnold wouldn't mind a big game himself.
Of course, both QBs want one thing more than anything else: The Lombardi Trophy in their hands and not the hands of their counterpart.
