The New England Patriots haven't played their best football this season, as their 28-22 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at Gillette Stadium dropped them to 3-8 on the year.
The inconsistencies have been the issue for Jerod Mayo's team, with the offense going hot and cold and the defense struggling for most of the year.
Each week Sporting News' Vinnie Iyer has produced NFL power rankings, and after the loss this week, the Patriots remain at No. 27; the lowest of the three-win teams.
"The Patriots are seeing inspired play from rookie QB Drake Maye despite some offensive skill limitations, but their defense needs a massive overhaul for Jerod Mayo in Year 2 to resemble anything Belichickian," Iyer wrote.
The New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars are behind New England.
With a matchup against the 19th-ranked Miami Dolphins this upcoming Sunday, the Patriots could move up into the low-20s with a win.
