NFL insider makes bold promise regarding Buffalo Bills running back James Cook contract

14 hours ago 1

The Buffalo Bills have had a rocky offseason when it comes to negotiations with running back James Cook. They've paid several other stars - Cook is the only guy who didn't get paid this offseason. Khalil Shakir, Greg Rousseau, Terrel Bernard, and Christian Benford all got extensions, as did quarterback Josh Allen.

Cook is entering the final year of his deal, and it's very possible he leaves in free agency come next offseason if a deal doesn't get done before then. The Pro Bowl running back made it known he wants $15 million per year in an Instagram live earlier this offseason. And while no one knows what the final number will end up being, ESPN's Adam Schefter is putting a hard lid on what it will end up being.

"James Cook is great, he ain’t getting $20 million," Schefter said on his podcast.

If Schefter is saying this with such confidence, it's all but guaranteed that Cook won't be getting that dollar amount.
