In Indy, hundreds of prospects will work out in front of NFL teams, some for the very first time. Teams will get to evaluate their on-field workouts, but also meet in person with them to get to know them personally.

How the 2026 NFL Draft order was determined
NFL draft picks are selected in the reverse order of each team's finish in the previous season, with the lowest win percentages getting the higher draft picks. Barring any trades, the draft order begins with the team that finished with the worst record and ends with the Super Bowl champions.
Teams that missed the playoffs get the picks 1-18. Next up, the playoff teams are placed into draft slots based on which round of the playoffs they were eliminated:
- The four teams eliminated in the wild card round pick in slots 21-24 in the reverse order of their final regular season records.
- The four teams eliminated in the divisional round pick in slots 25-28 in the reverse order of their final regular-season records.
- The two teams that lost in the conference championships pick in the 29th and 30th spots in the reverse order of their final regular-season records.
- The team that lost the Super Bowl has the 31st pick in the draft.
- The Super Bowl champion has the 32nd and final pick in each round.
For teams that finish with identical records, there are numerous tiebreaker scenarios put in place. If no head-to-head result exists, first, the league uses the strength of schedule for teams, using the combined win percentage of each team's opponents. The first tiebreaker for teams with identical records is strength of schedule, which is the combined win percentage of a team's opponents. The team that played the schedule with the lower winning percentage is given the higher draft selection.
If the strength of schedule percentage is also identical, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If necessary, this is the rest of the tiebreaking process:
- Head-to-head, if applicable
- Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
- Strength of victory in all games
- Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
- Best net points in all games
- Best net touchdowns in all games
- Coin toss
In addition to the usual selections in each round, 32 compensatory picks will be given to teams that lost significant free agents. These picks come after the seventh round.
