NFL draft could get ‘a little wild’ with GM predicting trade bonanza

Bears general manager Ryan Poles is expecting some fireworks during the 2025 NFL Draft. 

During a pre-draft press conference on Tuesday, Poles said the franchise is ready for anything leading up to Thursday’s festivities. 

“I feel really confident where we’re at. I think this one’s going to be a little wild,” Poles said. “But we’re going to be prepared for all the different scenarios that pop up.

“… I think there’s going to be a lot more movement than there has been in the past,” he added. “There’s a lot of phone calls going on right now, so it’s hard to tell today. But, I think as we get closer it’ll start to show itself.”

The Bears hold the No. 10 pick in the draft and appear open to the possibility of moving up or trading down should the right opportunity present itself.

Despite Poles’ comments, there seems to be some certainty at the top of the draft. 

NFL Network reported Tuesday that the Titans plan to take Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick. 

The certainty apparently stops there, though.

ESPN reported that the Browns and Giants, who hold the No. 2 and No. 3 picks, respectively, are “fielding trade inquiries” with two days to go until they’re on the clock. 

Giants GM Joe Schoen recently said he’s received calls on the pick and indicated he’s open to all options.

The teams looking to trade up, the outlet reported, are looking at drafting Colorado cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter and Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty. 

Where Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders will go is another wild card looming over the 2025 draft. 

The Steelers, who hold the 21st pick and would reportedly “like to address quarterback early,” are considering drafting Sanders, the son of Buffaloes head coach and Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders.
