Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz are finally choosing to answer the prayers of many fans of the Los Angeles Chargers. The team has now selected two wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The latest pick is Auburn wide receiver Keandre Lambert-Smith, taken with the No. 158 overall pick in the fifth round of the draft. He joins Tre Harris as wide receivers selected by the Chargers this season.
Lambert-Smith started his collegiate career at Penn State before transferring to Auburn for his final season. He caught 176 passes for 2,702 yards and 19 touchdowns in his college career while averaging 15.4 yards per catch. At 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, he's a bit undersized but he ran a 4.3-second 40-yard dash at the scouting combine and that is what got him drafted.
The Chargers have their outside target in Harris who will push Mike Williams and Quentin Johnston and now, Lambert-Smith comes in as a speedy wideout who can work out of the slot and try to take the top off the defense with his speed, perhaps pushing Derius Davis for a spot on the roster.

The Chargers have attacked pressing needs in this draft and though no one likely expected Harbaugh to use two of his first five picks on wide receivers, it shows the team is committed to improving that position to maximize what Justin Herbert can do.
Lambert-Smith is the nephew of former NFL Pro Bowl safety, Kam Chancellor.
