The Cleveland Browns are roughly two weeks into training camp, and their quarterback competition has been under a microscope throughout the entirety of that time. And while the four-man battle continues, it appears that at least one quarterback is losing any sort of chance to win that battle.
Dillon Gabriel has struggled over the last several days. He went a staggering 3-of-14 in team drills on Friday, and it doesn't look like things are getting better - so much so that Daryl Ruiter doesn't think Gabriel is capable of playing in the NFL.
“He's not an NFL quarterback. Not right now," Ruiter said on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. "He's rolling out and can't hit guys wide open. At times, he's not that good in the warmup periods.”
Should this be the case, then it appears the quarterback battle is more or less a three-person race at most. With Pickett dealing with a hamstring injury, Joe Flacco and Shedeur Sanders look like the top two candidates to win the job. However, Sanders was dealing with an arm injury that kept him out of team drills late last week, so Flacco looks like the clear leader in the clubhouse to be the Week 1 starter.
