Neymar Jr's camp in talks over shock January switch

3 hours ago 2

For over a decade, Neymar Jr flamboyance has been epitome of modern Brazilian football yet his career has now entered uncertain terrain.

His return to Santos after a failed stint in Saudi Arabia was meant to be redemptive but it has instead exposed the growing distance between the player he once was and the one he now struggles to be.

The 33-year-old forward has found it difficult to rediscover the form that once set Europe alight. He has only six goals and three assists in 23 appearances this season.

The thigh injury he sustained in September has compounded his struggles.

Neymar’s contract at Santos expires on December 31 and he will soon be available as a free agent which will present a rare opportunity for clubs to sign one of football’s great entertainers without a transfer fee.

It has been nearly two years since he last pulled on the famous yellow shirt of Brazil but national team coach Carlo Ancelotti recently hinted that the door to the Selecao is still open.

The Brazilian is considering some options to make a return in Ancelotti’s side and that decision could take him to Europe.
