Newcastle United have begun laying their groundwork for a potential summer swoop for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, often described as Alexander Isak 2.0.

The move could come if they clinch Champions League qualification.

According to Football Insider, the Magpies have dispatched scouts throughout the 2024/25 season to monitor the 20-year-old English winger, who has emerged as a high-ceiling prospect in Germany.

With Alexander Isak delivering 23 goals and 6 assists in 33 Premier League appearances this season, Toons’ Army are eager to add more firepower to their flanks.

Why Gittens could prove a good signing for Newcastle United?

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens could be a smart, high-upside signing for Newcastle United.

With the Winger already having Champions League experience and a proven ability to perform on the big stage. Who can forget his standout moment at Santiago Bernabeu, where his swift goal in counter attack briefly gave Dortmund the lead.

This isn’t a one-off. Gittens has clocked a top speed of 22.344 mph this season, which places him top 20 fastest players in the league.

He also combines that raw pace with sharp dribbling, ranking in the 99th percentile for take-ons and progressive carries, according to Fbref.

If Newcastle qualify for the Champions League, Gittens’ experience, speed, and direct play could offer the edge they need in Europe’s top competition.
