The New York Giants had a busy 2025 NFL offseason. It began in free agency with the signings of defensive standouts Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland and extended into the 2025 NFL Draft with their two first-round picks: edge rusher Abdul Carter and quarterback Jaxson Dart.
Dart joins a completely revamped quarterback room in New York, headlined by projected starter Russell Wilson and former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston. While that may be an uninspiring group for some fan bases, it's a welcome sight for Giants fans who've endured years of underwhelming quarterback play.
But New York's offseason wasn't perfect, at least, not in the eyes of Pro Football Focus, which gave Big Blue a B- for their moves.
"The Giants took swings at quarterbacks Geno Smith and Matthew Stafford in the trade market, and even called up to No. 1 overall for Cam Ward," PFF's Trevor Sikkema wrote. "But they were forced to settle for Jaxson Dart at the back end of Round 1. Defensive backs Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland were great additions via free agency for a defense that earned a 52.2 PFF coverage grade last season. The Giants' draft was very good overall, earning an A- in PFF's draft grades."
Jaxson Dart will make or break New York Giants' offseason
While it's fun to issue grades for offseason transactions, the reality for the New York Giants is that if Jaxson Dart becomes a viable starting quarterback in the NFL, their 2025 offseason will be considered a resounding success.
The NFL is all about the quarterback and the quest to find one. The Giants deserve a pat on the back for being aggressive in the 2025 NFL Draft, even if Dart wasn't graded as a consensus first-round prospect.
What Dart is, however, is a talented, pro-ready passer who offers athletic upside as a runner and the ability to unseat Wilson for the starting job as a rookie.
And let's not overlook Abdul Carter, either. He has generational upside as a pass rusher, and that's not hyperbole. In fact, there's a chance he could emerge as New York's most electrifying defender since Lawrence Taylor, and we know how many wins Taylor contributed to during his prime years.
Overall, a B- grade is probably fair for the New York Giants' 2025 offseason, but a revamped secondary, elite edge rusher, and potential franchise quarterback all coming to the Big Apple in the span of a few months certainly feels like a big win.
