New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: My Oxford Year, Chief of War, Twisted Metal + More
If you’re in the mood for romance, look no further than Netflix’s new original feature My Oxford Year, which arrives to the streamer on Friday. If historical drama is more your cup of tea, Chief of War might be the answer, the new series about the colonization of Hawai’i is out now, too. And if you want some escapist fun, the new season of Twisted Metal premiered on Peacock earlier this week.
New on Netflix August 1: My Oxford Year
In Netflix’s new original romance My Oxford Year, Sofia Carson stars as Anna, an American student studying poetry at Oxford. Anna has her life all figured out, with every detail planned to a T… until she meets Jamie (Corey Mylchreest) who makes her rethink everything. The film, which arrives Friday, is based on the novel by Julia Whelan.
New on Apple TV+ August 1: Chief of War
Chief of War on Apple TV+ is a new series about the history and colonization of the Hawaiian people in the 1800s, told from their own perspective. Jason Momoa leads the cast and also served as writer and executive producer of the series which also stars Luciane Buchanan, Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, and Kaina Makua.
New on Peacock July 31: Twisted Metal (Season 2)
Anthony Mackie returns as amnesiac delivery driver John Doe in season two of Peacock’s post-apocalyptic action comedy series Twisted Metal. Set in a desolate and hazardous version of the United States Twisted Metal: Season 2 sees John and and scavenger Quiet (Stephanie Beatriz) enter a deadly demolition derby created by a mysterious new foe, Calypso (Anthony Carrigan).
