New Orleans Saints closes door on Chris Olave trade talks to open door for possible Tua Tagovaiola deal

While the sports world caught wind of a potential Chris Olave deal, the New Orleans Saints knew they had to silence the rumors. They couldn’t trade one of their youngest star players after investing so much into him.

Yes, the season looks grim. But trading Olave would have come with a lot of fan backlash than gaining multiple third-rounders.

“Can confirm @FarabaughFB’s report that the #Saints aren’t actively looking to move WR Chris Olave, despite Steelers’ interest,” Ross Jackson host of Locked on Saints said.

Nick Farabugh of Pennlive.com, who Ross Jackson references, had this to say in his report.

“Sources tell PennLive that the Steelers have called the Saints to check on Olave’s availability. The Steelers are interested in the 24-year-old, but sources describe that call as a due diligence call. In addition, sources tell PennLive that New Orleans does not seem interested in trading Olave. As of this morning, nothing is close to a trade or imminent,” Farabugh wrote.

That is probably refreshing to Saints fans who were dreading the thought of completely unloading the team to not be good for another five years.

To Steelers fans, this is probably one of the worst feelings you can get. If they can get Rodgers to sign, will Calvin Austin III be enough with DK to be good now that Olave is off the table? Better call Cobb for that veteran leadership contract.

This does, however, open the door to a potential Tua deal as the Saints need a quarterback, and the organisation has a good history with making broken quarterbacks good again.

This comes from finding out that Tua posted the home he bought in 2020 up for sale, and Miami isn’t too keen on paying him again after his injuries plagued most of last year.

This could be why the Saints shut the door on trade talks so quickly, because who would Tua throw to?
