New Movies on Streaming: ‘28 Years Later,’ ‘The Life of Chuck,’ + More

12 hours ago 2

This week’s new movies on demand are filled with the living, the dying, and…the undead. This week’s newest arrivals to digital include Danny Boyle’s 28 Years Later and The Life of Chuck, which both offer some interesting and very different meditations on life.

If you want something a little less existential, try Hot Milk, the new film starring Sex Education‘s Emma Mackey as a young woman who has spent her life caring for her wheelchair-bound mother (Fiona Shaw) and heads to Spain in search of a cure, and in search of some space from the overbearing relationship and the pressures she faces.

These are just a few of the films that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.

28 Years Later

Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of 2002’s 28 Days Later, have reunited for 28 Years Later, the second sequel in the franchise that depicts life in Britain after a rage virus causes the country to go into lockdown. The latest film stars Alfie Williams as Spike, a boy whose father (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and mother (Jodie Comer) have settled on an island community separated from the mainland by a straight that washed out at high tide. The film depicts Spike’s experiences as he steps foot on the infected, infested mainland for the first time.

The Life of Chuck

The Life of Chuck brings together two of the great fantasy masters of our time, Stephen King and Mike Flanagan. The film is based on a story by King, which was then adapted and directed by Flanagan. The film depicts the life of Charles “Chuck” Krantz in reverse chronological order –Tom Hiddleston plays Krantz as an adult, Jacob Tremblay plays him as a teen, and Benjamin Pajak and Cody Flanagan portray him as a child. The film also features several regulars in Flanagan’s work, including Mark Hamill, Kate Siegel, Hamish Linklater and Samantha Sloyan.
