Marvel and DC have both been busy at this year's iteration of New York Comic Con. The former came bearing updates on its entire television slate, from a sneak peek at X-Men '97 Season 3 to the first poster for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and the reveal of the mysterious new live-action series Zodiac. On the comic side, this was also an opportunity for newly appointed Editor-in-Chief Stephen Wacker to make a good first impression while unveiling a new Captain Marvel run from Ms. Marvel co-creator G. Willow Wilson, previewing the milestone 700th issue of Daredevil, and more. DC, meanwhile, came out with a new selection of Black Label comics and Absolute Justice, the latest addition to the dark and gritty hit Absolute Universe.

However, the convention is far from over, and there are still some announcements to share under another comic banner — WEBTOON. It's no secret that Marvel and DC have both formed partnerships with the global storytelling platform in recent years, with the former even teaming with WEBTOON Entertainment to construct and run their new Marvel Comics app. Yesterday, those collaborations continued at their That Time Deadpool Fell Into a WEBTOON Panel panel, where three Disney series were announced as the latest titles to be reformatted for the webcomic platform, including the 2015 Spider-Gwen run by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez, Akira Aoki's Star Wars: Rebels manga adaptation, and Once Upon a Dream, the manga spin on Liz Braswell's best-selling Sleeping Beauty story Twisted Tale. With WEBTOON's NYCC panel on Saturday afternoon, the South Korean-American entertainment giant had even more partner series to unveil.

WEBTOON announced three more new titles under its partnership slate, two of which unfold in Gotham City. First up is a new horror series debuting just in time for the spooky season on October 19, titled Gotham By Daylight. Penned by Mike Birchall, who created the WEBTOON hit Everything Is Fine, the series puts a unique twist on Gotham City by drowning the usually dark and dreary home of Batman in sunlight and following average citizens as they're left to grapple with the supernatural threat behind it all, The Daylight. Several panels were shared to show off the monstrous new villain and the people trying to survive underneath him. For those looking for a Bruce Wayne-centric story, a fifth season of the slice-of-life series Batman: Wayne Family Adventures was confirmed, promising more tales of Batman balancing work with his attempts to be a father figure to the many adopted, fostered, and biological superhero children under his wing.

The Gift Is Given Your Power Is…

Four powers, and four completely different kinds of person behind them. Here is what you would wake up with, what it would cost you, and why the MCU keeps handing it to somebody exactly like you.

Super Strength

You get the power that is really about taking the hit so that nobody else has to. Strength in the MCU always lands on people who were already carrying too much, which is exactly why it suits you.

  • Your instinct is to put yourself between the problem and the people, and you do it before anybody has thought to ask.
  • Bruce Banner is the most interesting version of this because his story was never about lifting things, it was about control.
  • The catch with strength is that people stop checking whether you are alright, since you have made a habit of looking like you always are.
  • You would be the one everybody calls at two in the morning, and you would answer every single time.

Spider-Sense

You get the power that never switches off. Spider-sense is a gift and a nervous system on permanent alert, and the people who get it in these films are always the ones who were already worrying about everybody.

  • You read a situation faster than you can explain it, and you are usually right in a way you cannot show your working for.
  • Peter Parker is the template because he takes on more than he can hold and then apologises for not holding it well enough.
  • Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrived in July 2026 and put him back to being local, broke and permanently on call.
  • The cost here is real, since a power that warns you about everything also means you are never quite off duty.

Invisibility

You get the quietest power in the building, and quietly the most useful. Invisibility comes with force fields for a reason, because the people who prefer not to be seen are usually the ones holding a shield around everybody else.

  • You notice everything, largely because you spend more time observing a room than performing in it.
  • Sue Storm is the strongest member of her team and the least interested in anybody saying so, which is very much your energy.
  • The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally gave the family a proper MCU home in 2025 and made her the centre of it.
  • Your risk is that being unseen becomes a habit rather than a choice, and the people who love you would like a look in.

Chaos Magic

You get the biggest and least comfortable power on the list, the one that runs directly on feeling. Chaos magic is not really a superpower in the MCU so much as an emotional state with consequences attached.

  • You feel things at a volume other people do not, and you have spent years managing that rather than being managed by it.
  • Wanda is the best written character Marvel has, precisely because her power and her grief turned out to be the same thing.
  • WandaVision remains the high point of Marvel television, and it works because the spectacle is only ever a symptom.
  • The warning attached to this one is simple. A power that answers to how you feel is only ever as steady as you are.

It's Morphin Time for the 'Power Rangers' on Webtoon

Birchall is excited for his new series to take on some of the burning questions about the DC world at a very human level, aside from just "Why would anyone live in Gotham?" He released an official statement setting up the unique angle on the people who are facing horrific threats every day.

"Getting to highlight the ordinary people of Gotham has been so fun and fulfilling as well. It's so easy to say 'why would anyone live in Gotham?' but when you break it down, that's actually such an interesting question, and there are of course many good reasons. What's more interesting to me, though, is 'How do people live in Gotham? How do they get by? How do they support each other? How do they react to crazy, cosmic-level threats?' Putting these characters through their own horror stories is, to me at least, the perfect way to explore these questions."

Last but not least, from the partner series, WEBTOON has joined forces with Boom! Studios to add Kyle Higgins' beloved 2016 run of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics to its catalog. The series ran for 122 issues, taking inspiration from the classic television show of the same name, albeit with an updated modern setting. It picks up after the Green Ranger, Tommy Oliver, frees himself from Rita Repulsa's mind control and joins the fight against her never-ending wicked schemes, with storylines ranging from Tommy grappling with the lingering effects of Rita's evil influence to the Rangers' battles with Lord Drakkon and the emergence of other threats over time and space. A release date has not yet been announced.

'Omniscient Reader' and More of Webtoon's Hottest Originals Are Returning for More

WEBTOON rounded out the presentation of what's coming soon with a preview of the platform's original series, starting with creator heiMO's new thriller My Dear Watson, launching on October 31. The winner of the "Most Gripping" honor at the 2025 WEBTOON Webcomic Legends contest now gets a chance to take the spotlight as a proper WEBTOON Original, following a woman named Cat Chen living in a crime-infested Manhattan who discovers she has the odd ability to rewind time anytime she dies. Joining it as a new original is Belle Morte, based on the Wattpad story by Belle Higgins. In the unique romance comic, vampires are not creatures of the night bleeding humans dry for sustenance, but A-list celebrities who humans are paid to donate blood to.

As for returning series, WEBTOON announced a second season of amyahue!'s romance breakout smash The Egg Project following a wildly popular first run. Season 1 of the webcomic followed the enemies-to-lovers story of Cherry and Riku, classmates who have long hated each other but are forced to work together after being assigned to co-parent an egg for a school project. As the boys began to see sparks fly, so too did audiences fall in love, garnering a staggering 18.7 million views. Lost in Translation creator Jjolee's Cuffing Cupid is also back for Season 2 to continue following Yejun's search for a soulmate. The series about an investigator of cheating partners getting his own cupid has become a hit in its own right with over 11.4 million views.

Finally, more episodes of the action darling Omniscient Reader will be arriving this fall. The global smash hit about an office worker who finds his favorite apocalyptic web novel brought to life debuted in 2020 and has since become one of WEBTOON's greatest success stories, with over 3 billion views accumulated across 300 episodes and counting. REDICE STUDIO shared an official statement celebrating the much-anticipated return of the beloved story and the opportunity to preview what comes next on a big stage like NYCC.

"Hello to everyone at New York Comic Con! We're so excited that Omniscient Reader will be returning soon. It's been incredible to watch the series find its fans around the world through WEBTOON, and we're grateful for everyone who has shown their passion for the webcomic over the past six years. We can't wait for you to see more of Dokja's story when the series returns this fall. See you soon on WEBTOON!"
