The late actor Eric Dane, who passed away Feb. 19, left his daughters with a touching parting gift: Four poignant pieces of advice to carry through life.

Dane shared a statement to his daughters, Billie and Georgia, in a new episode of the Netflix documentary Famous Last Words that is streaming now. The episode premiered on Netflix just one day after the Grey’s Anatomy star passed after a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was 53.

“Billie and Georgia, these words are for you,” he says in the documentary, according to Netflix’s Tudum. “I tried. I stumbled sometimes, but I tried. Overall we had a blast, didn’t we?”

During the confidential interview with Brad Falchuk, which was filmed in November 2025, Dane opened up about his decades-long career in acting, his passion for his family, his battle with drugs and alcohol and more.

But Dane eventually gets moment to himself to issue a moving statement to his loved ones.

“I remember all the times we spent at the beach, the two of you, me and mom — in Santa Monica, Hawaii, Mexico. I see you now playing in the ocean for hours, my water babies. Those days, pun intended, were heaven. I want to tell you four things I’ve learned from this disease, and I hope you don’t just listen to me. I hope you’ll hear me,” he says, before launching into a moving speech about love, dignity and resilience, pulling from his own life.

“I hope I’ve demonstrated that you can face anything. You can face the end of your days. You can face hell with dignity. Fight, girls, and hold your heads high,” he advises. “Billie and Georgia, you are my heart. You are my everything. Good night. I love you. Those are my last words.”

Famous Last Words premiered in October 2025 with Dr. Jane Goodall just ahead of her passing. Based on the Danish TV series Det Sidste Ord, the Netflix series is reportedly filmed “with extreme discretion – conversations so private that only the interviewee and interviewer are present.” The cameras are remotely operated and then the interview is preserved to ensure total discretion.

The interviews are conducted with the understanding that they are completely confidential and will only be released posthumously.

Falchuk shared a statement about his experience interviewing Dane just months before he passed away.

“Eric and I were the same age when we discussed his life and legacy, so the conversation felt uniquely moving and personal,” says Falchuk. “There was no self-pity in Eric. He refused to complain. He was brave, soulful, charming, joyful, grateful, and hilarious — and when he flashed that smile, he was undeniably still a leading man. His final words at the end of the episode are truly beautiful. I will miss him.”

Dane’s episode of Famous Last Words is streaming now on Netflix.
