New Cleveland Browns players comments on who he wants to start between Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson

The Cleveland Browns are heading into a quarterback competition. It’ll be up to the front office to make the right decision, but some new veterans have weighed in on the situation.

Elgton Jenkins made it clear that, regardless of who wins the job between Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders, he has trust in both of them to do what’s needed. The team will also be there for them, no matter what.

“Me being on another team, I’ve seen both of them play some real good football. So just keeping everything competitive,” Jenkins said in his opening press conference.

“No matter who wins the starting spot we’re going to be there for him, the (No.) 1 or the 2, we’re going to be there for him. So I guess just keeping it competitive and just being there for both of them when they need it. But they’re very good football players and I’m excited to work with them.”

Instead of locking in a clear starter early, the Browns are going with an open competition, giving both quarterbacks a chance to earn the starting job. It wouldn’t be surprising to see another name emerge over the next few months, too.

This is also a good thing to see from Jenkins, as he’ll need to be an important piece to Cleveland.
