Disgraced former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was in tears as he was handcuffed and ushered into the back of a police car during his December arrest.
Shortly after he was fired by the school and still wearing his Wolverines gear, an emotional Moore was located Dec. 10 sitting in a black SUV in a church parking lot and told to put his hands out the window and get out of the car, according to police bodycam video obtained by TMZ.
Assured by police “That you are not in trouble. We are here to help you,” Moore told them that getting handcuffed causes him pain because of an old shoulder injury.
Once in the car, Moore told an officer that he had just been fired by Michigan.
“That’s part of life, I guess,” Moore said. “They wanted to fire me, anyway.”
Except the circumstances behind Moore’s firing are anything but run of the mill and related to on-field record.
Moore allegedly was engaged in an inappropriate extramarital relationship with his assistant Paige Shriver and threatened her after she broke off the relationship and turned in evidence to the school that led to his dismissal.
The 40-year-old married father of three was charged with home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering for confronting her at her home.
Those three charges recently were dismissed when he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges of trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device in a private relationship, which could result in six months jail time at his April 14 hearing.
“I am going to kill myself,” Moore told Shiver, according to prosecutors. “Im going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my life.”
Moore’s wife, Keli, who has stood by him through the scandal, called the police to look for her husband because she feared that he was suicidal.
He told the responding officers that was not the case and a pair of scissors was the only notable thing inside the car, per The Daily Mail.
“I don’t want to hurt myself, man,” Moore said on video. “I got a beautiful family, kids.”
