What announcement did he make?

RealGM reported that Thomas was recently interviewed in his hometown, where he clarified his stance going into the offseason.

"I definitely, definitely want to be back in Brooklyn. It’s definitely home for me" Thomas said.

Thomas did follow up by saying, "But at the same time, you have to do what’s best for you in the business aspects."

It seems he would love to return to Brooklyn, but the Nets would have to compensate him in a way that he feels is fair.

Since he's a restricted free agent, the Nets have the right to match any offer he takes from another team, which could mean Thomas will leave free agency with a hefty contract, no matter where he ends up next season.

Thomas has received interest from several teams, and just came off a season where he averaged 24.0 PPG, 3.3 RPG and 3.8 APG.
