The carrier will aim to lower its net “well-to-wake” emissions — described as those associated with the production, distribution and combustion of jet fuel — by 20% to 25% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline, according to a statement published on Thursday.

“The reality of decarbonizing an industry like aviation is, there is uncertainty and are many factors we have limited control over, such as the availability of sustainable aviation fuel at reasonable prices,” she said in a separate statement. “We hope there may be opportunities to move faster as new technologies and the SAF industry grows.”
