World Number One Nelly Korda has claimed her seventh title of 2024 in the ANNIKA tournament, and in doing so has made LPGA Tour history.
The 26-year-old is now the first American since 1990 to win seven plus times in a season. She is also just the third player in LPGA Tour history to have a season with six or more wins.
To add to that, Korda was also part of the victorious US Solheim Cup team in September, and was awarded the 2024 Rolex Player Of The Year award, when nobody could catch her in the points table.
The attractive, young American, who made more headlines over the last few weeks for posting pictures on her social media of her photoshoot wearing a sleek black swimsuit for Sports Illustrated magazine, shot a winning score of 14-under par in the ANNIKA event. In doing so, she erased what was a six-shot deficit in the third round by shooting a final round of three-under par 67. Korda stayed patient throughout the final round to outrun a crowded leaderboard and win by three clear strokes.
Nelly Korda's hot putter was the secret weapon
A hot putter was the key to the back nine, as Korda one putted holes 11-16, making five straight birdies to go from two-shots back to two-shots ahead. Consistent driving was also critical to her success, as she only missed one fairway in the final round off the tee.
The hottest start to an LPGA Tour season seen for years
Earlier this season, Korda became the third player ever to win five consecutive tournaments on the LPGA Tour, and with just two events remaining on the 2024 calendar, she looks firmly set to secure her spot in the history books with what has been a remarkable season.
