A shocking loss to the Cardinal dropped the Wolfpack to 3-4 on the season, ending a 14-year tenure that produced 98 wins and 11 bowl trips
NC State has fired coach Dave Doeren after 14 sewason, the program announced on Saturday. The news comes one day after the Wolfpack lost 31-28 to Stanford on Friday, which was the first power conference win of the season for the Cardinal.
"I want to thank Coach Doeren for his service and contributions to NC State, and for always representing the university with pride," NC State athletic director Boo Corrigan said. "I appreciate his leadership during his 14-year tenure and the passion he brought to this role. We wish Dave, Sara and his family the best in the future."
The Wolfpack are off to a disappointing 3-4 start to the 2026 season after investing significantly to retain quarterback CJ Bailey. They upset Louisville earlier this season, but have lost all four other matchups against Power Four competition.
Doeren posted a record of 98-73 during his tenure with the program, including 11 bowl appearances in 14 seasons.
CBS Sports will have more on this breaking news shortly.
