Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continued a strong campaign for the NBA MVP award on Friday night in Oklahoma City.
The OKC Thunder star played against a struggling Indiana Pacers team and put on a dominant performance that is becoming less shocking as he continues to put up impressive numbers daily.
In 35 minutes, Gilgeous-Alexander shot 17-28 from the field, 1-4 from three, and 12-12 from the charity stripe. He totaled 47 points.
Along with his scoring, Gilgeous-Alexander came down with four rebounds, dished out four assists, snatched one steal, and blocked one shot. He was a plus-four in the game, where the Thunder ended up coming up short, to the league’s surprise.
NBA World Remains Impressed With SGA

@joaovalle30: But the Thunder has a “super team”
@MapleBruin: Remember when they tried putting him in Luka talks
The Thunder couldn’t complete the game with a victory, despite SGA nearly hanging 50 on the Pacers.
Indiana’s effort was led by Jarace Walker, Andrew Nembhard, and Pascal Siakam, as they each crossed 20 points on the night. The Pacers took down the defending champions with a 117-114 victory.
On the Thunder’s side, Chet Holmgren was Gilgeous-Alexander’s biggest helping hand on the night, as he logged a double-double with 13 rebounds and 25 points off 8-15 shooting.
With Friday’s loss, the Thunder dropped to 37-8 on the year. They have a major lead in first place in the Western Conference.
In 43 games this season, Gilgeous-Alexander has posted averages of 32.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.3 assists. He shoots 55 percent from the field and 39 percent from three, taking 4.8 threes per game.
At this stage of the season, Gilgeous-Alexander is widely viewed as the league’s MVP favorite.
Following Friday’s game, the Thunder will be back on the court on Sunday to host the Toronto Raptors.
