The 2026 NBA offseason is finally upon us, and the first big domino to fall will likely be the future of two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The future Hall of Fame power forward has likely played his final game with the Milwaukee Bucks, as the franchise is listening to trade offers on Antetokounmpo, who could enter free agency as soon as next offseason.
With Antetokounmpo likely on the move in the coming weeks, teams have begun calling the Bucks and trying to get a deal done to acquire the 31-year-old power forward, including the Miami Heat.
Giannis Heat trade rumor involves Tyler Herro and the Pistons
According to Ku Khahil of Locked On Pistons, a trade package involving Heat All-Star guard Tyler Herro being sent to the Detroit Pistons is gaining steam.
Herro heading to Detroit would be a part of a bigger trade that would move Antetokounmpo to Miami.
"I’m hearing Tyler Herro to Detroit is picking up steam," Khahil said. "This would be part of a 3-team trade that sends Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat."
However, Khahil adds that the Bucks are preventing the deal from potentially going through, as they want to get as much value back as possible for Antetokounmpo.
"Milwaukee, I’m told, is the side that is left to actually push through with it. They’re wanting to extract as much value as possible for Giannis (rightfully so), and want to make sure they’re not leaving any meat on the bone. As many reporters/insiders have said over the last two weeks, this has made MIL frustrating to work with for some teams."
It isn't shocking that the Bucks' asking price for Antetokounmpo is incredibly high. The 10-time All-Star is an elite franchise player, and though he may not be the same dominant force he once was, Giannis is still a top 10 player in the sport and can be the best player on a championship team.
There have been rumblings that Antetokounmpo wants to be in Miami, so it makes sense that the Heat are actively pursuing him in a trade.
As for the trade rumor and the Pistons' involvement, Herro would be a nice addition to J. B. Bickerstaff's starting lineup. Herro would pair well with Cade Cunningham and give Detroit more offensive firepower in the backcourt.
We'll see what happens with Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. A trade seems inevitable, but it remains to be seen where and what Milwaukee gets back.
