NBA legend credits two specific plays for Spurs stealing Game 3 and Victor Wembanyama did not get a single flower

The San Antonio Spurs walked into the New York Knicks' territory on Monday night and pulled off a massive road upset. They escaped with a close 115-111 victory over New York, snapping the Knicks' 13-game postseason winning streak and cutting the series deficit to 2-1.

Wembanyama was the gravitational force behind the win, putting up 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and three blocks on 11-of-18 shooting. Following his solid outing, Wemby became only the second-youngest player ever to post a 30-5-5 game in the Finals, trailing only Magic Johnson himself.

By every box score measure, Wembanyama was the best player on the floor. But when Johnson offered his Game 3 verdict on X, where he credited the Spurs' road win to three specific people but the Frenchman was left off the list.

"Two big plays sealed the victory for the Spurs: Castle’s 3-pointer and Fox’s step back jumper!" Magic wrote. "Tonight was a masterful coaching job by Spurs Head Coach Mitch Johnson. He deserves a lot of credit for instilling such confidence in his team to get this win on the road!"

Magic, however, focused strictly on clutch execution that secured the win in the final minutes. Castle's three-pointer in the last two minutes stopped a Knicks run, while Fox's step-back jumper in the final seconds extended the lead to five. Wemby was not involved in either sequence.

The Knicks still lead the series 2-1 heading into Game 4, which tips off Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET on ABC at Madison Square Garden.
