Kevin Durant continued to play at an elite level in 2024-25, however, the Phoenix Suns failed to reach the postseason. The 2013-14 MVP is expected to be on the move to a fifth franchise this offseason as his current team looks to get underneath the second apron of the luxury tax.
While he has been linked to several destinations, one NBA insider believes that a deal may already be done. Bill Simmons discussed the possibility during the latest episode of "The Bill Simmons Podcast", suggesting that Durant could be headed to the San Antonio Spurs.
"I wouldn't be surprised if KD to the Spurs is done already and they just haven't announced it," Bill Simmons claimed Sunday. "Basically, they've agreed on specifics and they'll just announce it on the week of the draft. Don't aggregate that. I have no inside info. This goes back to the Giannis thing. I think they're just going to trade for KD and it will cost a lot less. They'll be able to be really competitive and maybe go a couple of rounds in the playoffs, but they're also going to keep the No. 2 pick and do it that way would be my prediction."

Simmons speculated that the Spurs would offer a package of Devin Vassell, Harrison Barnes and a future first-round pick. He noted that the Suns likely won't get a massive return for Durant as he has just one year remaining on his contract and will turn 37 years old before next season begins.
It is unclear if that deal would be enough to bring the 15-time All-Star to San Antonio, particularly if Giannis Antetokounmpo remains with the Milwaukee Bucks -- which would create more suitors for Durant. The two-time NBA champion averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from three-point range and 83.9% from the free-throw line in 2024-25.
