NBA champion makes shocking Caitlin Clark claim -- and asks this team to trade for her

A former NBA champion has made the stunning claim on Thursday that the Indiana Fever want to trade Caitlin Clark.

Mychal Thompson -- the father of four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson -- claimed Thursday on X that a "reliable source" told him that the Fever "don't want Caitlin no more."

Thompson, who won two NBA titles himself and now serves as the color commentator on radio broadcasts of Los Angeles Lakers games, said in his X post that the Los Angeles Sparks should "go get" Clark "now," even though the Sparks have their own All-Star floor general in Kelsey Plum.

I’m hearing from a reliable source the Fever dont want Caitlin no more…SPARKS…Go get her…NOW!!!

The timing and the mooted destination are both curious, to say the least.

Clark and Fever head coach Stephanie White engaged in a verbal confrontation during the Fever's loss to the Portland Fire on Saturday. Though both Clark and White have attempted to cool the war of words, the argument has continued to be a source of debate in the media and of viral discussion online.

The Fever drafted Clark first overall in 2024, and she is the team's most popular player; it's even been plausibly argued that Clark is the most popular player in the entire WNBA.

Indiana would be loath to trade her as she barrels toward a third consecutive All-Star appearance and her first season averaging better than 20 points per game.
