The Minnesota Timberwolves have taken a 3-1 series lead over the Los Angeles Lakers after their 116-113 victory in Game 4 on Sunday. In the victory, Minnesota star Anthony Edwards put together a dominant performance with 43 points nine rebounds, and six assists.
After the victory, ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins gave a baffling take on First Take Monday morning.
"Anthony Edwards is going to win a championship before Luka Doncic. Anthony Edwards is built different. [Ant] is a better all-around basketball player than Luka Doncic. ... [Ant-Man] is a top 5 player in the game today," Perkins said.
With the series being 3-1 in the Timberwolves' favor, it is easy to make these kinds of claims. Between Edwards and Luka Doncic, both are arguably top five players in the league. In terms of the regular season, Doncic averages more points, rebounds and assists than Edwards.
In this playoff series head-to-head, Edwards is scoring 29 points, seven rebounds, and five assists per game. Meanwhile, Doncic is averaging 30 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
The Timberwolves are a team that reached the Western Conference Finals last season. They were able to add two more quality players with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo in a deal that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks. This move provided the team with some depth. Something the Lakers don't have as a team.

For Perkins to make a comparison between two players that ultimately is a team accomplishment is what makes it baffling. Both Edwards and Doncic are great players and have shown their abilities in this series. It's not like the Lakers are down in the series because of Doncic. Minnesota is a deeper and better team.
