The New York Knicks have made some offseason moves, but they could still make a splash.
Over the past couple of months, the Knicks have been one of the most interesting teams in the league. Although their offseason hasn’t necessarily featured massive star trades or unbelievable free agent signings, the Knicks have made some solid progress.
Most notably, the team hired Mike Brown as its new coach and recently inked Mikal Bridges to a four-year, $150 million extension. Add in the signings of Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson, and New York has done its best to improve.
Of course, there is still more progress to be made. As outlined by CBS Sports’ James Herbert, the Knicks still need to make some moves to make things work.
The biggest dilemma facing the Knicks is the fact that they still only have 12 players under contract and are nearly at the second apron. As Herbert explained, the Knicks will need to be careful as they maneuver that odd situation.
While Bridges’ extension certainly helped the team’s future outlook, there could still be a chance of a late-offseason blockbuster, such as the one that landed Karl-Anthony Towns in New York just before training camp in 2024.
Still, the Knicks appear to be in the market to add guys like Ben Simmons, but finding the right fits at the right price will be at the forefront of New York’s moves. New York will almost certainly be a title contender again next season, and finding the perfect pieces to complete the puzzle could be the difference on their postseason run.
